Vicar McCalley hales from eastern Colorado, not too far from Denver, but refers to it as: “not postcard Colorado” or “the part that Kansas forgot.” In 2008, he graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder majoring in International Affairs. A stint with the US Congress quickly dissuaded him from pursuing civil service. He then studied for two years at Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota. After six years of schooling, he opted to be sent off to Beijing to teach humanities. Following four years abroad and endless bizarre gastronomic experiences, he realized that to teach and counsel more effectively, a more formal theological training was necessary and began studies at Concordia Theological Seminary Fort Wayne in 2015. He enjoys the skiing (water and snow), debating, reading, and especially teaching about Jesus.
