Pastor Roth has served Trinity as Sr. Pastor since 2007. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University in Social Work and Psychology. He received his Masters of Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary and was ordained into the holy ministry in 1986. Pastor Roth loves teaching and proclaiming God's Word. He enjoys getting to know people and working with them for the sake of God's kingdom. He loves spending time with his wife Amy and their 8 children and 4 grandchildren. He also enjoys outdoor activities, boating, fishing, woodworking, reading, and exercise.
Vicar Schmeisser was raised in St. Joseph, Missouri with his younger brother. He attended Truman State University, where he completed a Bachelor of Arts in Music (Vocal) and a Master of Arts in Education, completed in 2011. After college, he returned home where he served primarily as a substitute teacher until beginning study at Concordia Theological Seminary in 2017. It was there that he met his wife, Chelsie, and was married in June 2019. He loves studying God’s Word and sharing the beauty of it with those around him. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, playing video games, reading, and practicing taekwondo.
Director of Youth & Family Ministry
Melissa Graham, the oldest of three children, was born and raised in Big Rapids, MI. Melissa attended a Lutheran school through 8th grade, before attending Big Rapids Highschool and graduating in 2014. She continued on to Concordia University Ann Arbor, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Family Life Education with two minors in Youth Ministry and Social Services in May 2018. In her free time Melissa enjoys spending time with her friends and family, watching sports, and traveling.
Betty Perrone has served at Trinity since 1997. She served as an Office Assistant in the school office from 1997 – 2007. In 2007 she transferred to the church office, where she serves as the Church Secretary. Prior to coming to Trinity, Betty went to Lake Michigan College for Restaurant Hospitality & was the Asst. Manager at Grande Mere Inn for 10 years, leaving there when she become the mother of her second child. Betty was married to Gary Perrone, and became widowed in May 2018. She has 2 daughters (both who graduated from Trinity’s school), 4 grandsons & 1 granddaughter. Betty feels blessed to be involved in the numerous ministries of Trinity Lutheran Church & School, and assisting the Boards & Committees that make our church what it is today. Betty became a trained Stephen Leader in January 2019, and serves as the Referrals Coordinator and Awareness Coordinator.
Sue has been with Trinity since 1999, managing the day to day financial operations for the ECC, School and Church, as well as Human Resources Manager. She is a member of Midway Baptist Church where where she serves in their Awana program. Sue resides in Watervliet with her husband Ray. She enjoys spending time with her sons, Drew & Aaron (Kathleen) and three grandsons Ceth, Kaleb & Bennett and her granddaughter, Taelyn.
Director of Music Ministry
Paula Steuernagel came to Trinity in January of 2016 from the Chicago area. She is happy to be back in Michigan as she was born in Pontiac. Life as a Pastor’s daughter took her to many different locations. She then graduated with her Bachelor’s in Piano Performance from The Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Next she graduated with a Master’s in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She is also ABD for her Doctorate of Musical Arts from The University of Oklahoma in Norman. Praising God in music is her favorite thing to do and teaching others to enjoy His praises is the exciting benefit of this work. When not at the church she enjoys doing anything that involves her dog, RosaLee.
I was baptized into Trinity’s family in August of 1957. I attended grade school here at Trinity and was confirmed in 1971. I graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1975, attended Southwestern Michigan College with studies in Architectural Design. In October of 2017 I graduated from the LCMS Michigan District’s Deacon Program. I have been married to Janice for 18 years this May. Between us we have three sons-Seth, Charlie, and Caleb, one daughter Laura Nuccio, 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. I am the 4th generation here at Trinity and for me, this is home! I am humbled and honored to be serving my Lord and my church as Deacon.
Chelsie Schmeisser will be serving Trinity as Deaconess Intern from July 2019 to July 2020, after which she will graduate from Concordia Theological Seminary with a Master of Arts in Deaconess Studies. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia University Ann Arbor, completed in 2017. She looks forward to serving Trinity in many different ways throughout the course of her internship. She recently got married to Timothy Schmeisser (June 8, 2019), who is also serving Trinity as Vicar this year. Chelsie enjoys spending time with her husband, reading, playing video games, and watching Netflix.
Technology Support Staff
Nathan has served as Trinity’s Technology Support personnel since 2013. Nathan is a former Trinity Student having attended Trinity for Kindergarten through 8th Grade, before attending Bridgman High School and graduating in 2006. Nathan enjoys anything that has to do with Technology in his free time and is an active part of the Contemporary Worship Team on Sundays.
